  Missions at East EFC

East EFC is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission of Christ by proclaiming the gospel of Christ, making disciples and relating to the whole need of mankind - spiritual, physical, emotional and social.  We do this by supporting and serving local missions in the Wichita area, supporting missionaries serving around the world and joining with other churches to support the ministries of the EFCA. 
  
 March 2011 - 2nd Milers and middle schoolers at Union Rescue Mission
The 2nd Milers group invited the middle schoolers to join them for work at the Union Rescue Mission followed by lunch.
      
     2nd Milers at the Union Rescue Mission - Summer 2010
    The 2nd Miler group visited the Union Rescue Mission in May to learn about the ministry to the homeless and hurting in Wichita. Over the summer they have returned to volunteer as needed.
        
       Lend-a-Hand - July 2010
      The youth (and some extra adults) lent a few hands to help with yard work.
          
         Adventures in Missions - Summer 2010

        Jordan C. joined a 2 month short-term missions trip to Uganda this summer. She was on a team with 28 other college-age students. Adventures in Missions coordinates willing workers with locally operated ministry and outreach with kids and the poor.
          
         New Orleans Clean-up/Outreach Trip - March 2010
        During Spring Break, a team of 11 adults and students made the trek to New Orleans to work with the EFCA TouchGlobal Crisis Response ministry. 4 ½ years after Hurricane Katrina, there is still much work to be done in the poorer districts of New Orleans. We arrived Sunday evening (March 14) at the EFCA Castle Rock Church after a 14 hour drive, and plunged into the orientation session. Partnering with the Urban Impact organization, our assignment for the week was two-fold: first, we were be part of a program called “Blight-Busters” which cleaned up vacant and overgrown lots in the Central City area, and secondly, to lead “Challenge Circles” in the housing projects late every afternoon. These Challenge Circles drew elementary aged children and through games, and team competition taught Christian and success values like “Stay in school”, “I am a champion”, “I don’t quit!”, as well as the Gospel message. The week was challenging, rewarding, and life-changing for all those who participated. The sacrifice of time was well worth the benefits both personally and to the people in the Central City area of New Orleans. Already plans are being raised for returning next March during Spring Break.

         World Impact Work Day - Nov. 2009
        World Impact works with the urban community in a number of communities across the country. Their mission: World Impact is a Christian missions organization dedicated to planting churches through evangelizing, equipping and empowering the unchurched urban poor. Over the years, East EFC has provided teams to support the World Impact ministry in Wichita.
